What is 3D carbon carbon composite? Its with 3 directions of carbon fibers, we call x,y,z directions usually. Sometimes we call it 3D xyz structure. See structure attached. Another type of 3D carbon structure is 3D hoop structure: with fibers in axial, radial and hoop directions. There are also other types of 3D structures. We can also produce C/C composite as per customers’ structures. You can see different structures of 3D C/C composite in other pages.
Different 3D structures has different strength to each directions, it leads to different applications of C/C composite for each structure. Different density also affect the strength to each direction of 3D C/C composite material.
For 3D CFC, we can produce with density of 1.7-1.95g/cm3, others as per customers’ requests. For C/C composite material, most manufacturers can produce with density upto 1.85-1.88g/cm3, this is the best level of density with normal furnace. We are the only few manufacturers that can produce and can guarantee that the density with 1.90g/cm3 min, usually it can reach 1.92 or 1.93g/cm3. we use special HIP equipment.
